Just a handful of pictures from our vacation. Don’t worry, though, I’ll spam your dashboard with more later.
Our family cleaned house at this morning’s Band of Brother’s 5K. Me and Her didn’t know about it until last night when we got in town, but we figured, what the heck? She walked it with two of my cousins while my other cousin (far left) and I ran.
Everyone in the family that participated placed in their respective categories. The girls took 1-2-3 in the walking; my other cousin who ran took second in her age group, and my uncle took third in the male walking category.
I ran and finished with a personal best time of 23:09 (7:33/mile pace) and took second place in my age group, 30-39. I really pushed hard today and my training paid off. My 10K is three weeks away. I am almost ready.
And in case anyone is wondering, The Boy does read some of the pages of the Harry Potter books. He’s a rising second grader, but reads at a high fourth grade level, so he’s not afraid to read books above his “recommended” reading level. We’ve even started reading some articles in the sports section of the paper - mainly about the Washington Nationals, our favorite baseball team (though he still likes the Braves since it’s the first MLB game he remembers going to).
We had a blast at the annual family reunion. I don’t think we’ve ever laughed harder. Click on the photos to read the captions… do it.
Enter Sandman
- Her: You better sleep with one eye open.
- Me: Gripping my pillow tight?
- Her: What? I don't know what that means.
- Me: (Googling Metallica and playing Enter Sandman)
- Her: Oh, Enter Sandman.
- Me: This song is 21 years old... came out in 1991
- Her: I was 9.
