Washington Capitals veteran forward Jason Chimera (25) scored the game-winning goal in the double overtime to give the Caps a 4-3 win over the New York Rangers. The Caps trailed 3-0 after two periods, but scored three goals in the third to send the game to overtime.
Neither team scored in the first 20-minute overtime period, but 12 minutes into the second extra session, confusion by the Rangers goalie Henrik Lundqvist and his defenseman allowed a loose back to drop behind the New York goalie and onto the stick of Chimera, who easily slide the puck into the net for the game-winner.
Washington leads the best-of-seven series 3-1. But, the Caps are far from safe. Last season, they led the Canadians 3-1 and lost the first-round series to the Habs.

Apparently, I’m among the civilized Washington Capital fans. However, by chanting “Crosby Sucks” at a game in which he’s not even playing, only shows how much the uncivilized Caps fans fear and respect him.
I have no beef with Sid and I believe any “animosity” between him and Ovie is contrived, because the NHL is desperate for a marketable rivalry, hence the New Year’s Day matchup at Heinz Field for the NHL Winter Classic.
