Today, Ryan and I joined up with some dedicated volunteers for our 1st Annual Cardboard Cruise.  The holidays seem to leave us all with mounds and mounds of cardboard laying around, and we thought we’d take the opportunity to help out by providing a free cardboard pickup in the areas we will begin serving.  A group of dedicated volunteers - including Henry Showalter and his son Reece, Ryan’s wife Jeanne, and Gary Cope - braved wind gusts of nearly 60 mph and collected an amazing amount of cardboard … 600 lbs, in fact!  By recycling that material, we were able to save 2.7 cubic yards of landfill space and 13.8 gallons of oil.

I can’t WAIT for this site to come back online tomorrow. Hysterical!

@SEOSEM (Twitter pal) posted this link today and I couldn’t agree more! It sounds absurd (only because congress would never go for it) but it makes perfect sense. If you want to fix the economy, give the bailout money ($300,000 after taxes to every adult) to the American people and they’ll pay of debt, mortgages, cars, and then put money right back into the economy.

Some days I feel like we (globally speaking) are never going to get where we need to be in terms of alternative energies. But then, I read something like this and I have a renewed sense of hope. Keep the faith my green buddies!
