Me, Her, the Boy and a Dog

The adventures of me, her, my boy and our dog as we navigate life in a crazy world. We love the outdoors, sports, reading, playing, and of course, the Virginia Tech Hokies and the William & Mary Tribe.

Also, I founded the GoFightWinVT Tumblr, so if you're a Hokie, give it a follow. And, feel free to check out my Project 365 Tumblr.

Who I Follow

What does your car say about you? Mine says that I am sensible, economical and - oh, who am I kidding? It says I couldn’t afford the new Benz C-class. ;)

Seriously, though. I love my car! I bought my Toyota Corolla LE brand spanking new in 2003. Nothing fancy, but it’s a Toyota so it’s a safe vehicle and it should last a long time as long as I take good care of it.

I used to be really good at keeping records of all the oil changes and maintenance, but then life happened and now I can’t find any of the maintenance records. So, I turned to the Web, as I often do, to find a site that would let me keep track of all my maintenance updates and information about my car.

I found DriverSide.com. I love this site because it is easy to use and has everything in one place. Have you ever asked what is your car really worth? If so, check out this site and it will give you a great idea. Look, your car depreciates as soon as you drive it off the lot (much like the computer on which you’re reading this blog), so keep track of your car’s value and protect your investment!

If you’re lucky, you already have a great mechanic that you can trust. I know, I know … finding a trustworthy mechanic is like finding a trustworthy politician, but stop worrying! If you want to find the best mechanic near you, check out DriverSide.com’s community forums and see what others are saying about mechanics in your area. Then, you can find out what you can expect to pay for certain repairs, so you don’t get taken to the cleaners when you need to get your car fixed.

The other thing I like about this site, which is still in beta by the way (I’m an early adopter, what can I say), is that as soon as I created my account and added my car, I saw that I had four - count ‘em - FOUR recall notices! What? Needless to say I’ll be calling the local Toyota dealership soon to have those issues resolved.

Take care everyone and drive safe!
