- Her: Did you watch the State of the Union?
- Me: I tuned in around 10 while I was folding laundry.
- Her: You didn't watch the whole thing?!
- Me: Did something big happen?
- Her: I just thought you were an Obama lover.
- Me: If by Obama lover you mean an awesome Democrat, then yes I am. But no, I did not sit there with a bowl of popcorn to devour his every word. I've only ever watched one State of the Union and that's because I had to write a paper on it. I'll catch the highlights and main points from the news that I watch every morning, or NPR on my commute, or by READING.
- Her: Yea, but the places you get your news are probably biased. I just thought you cared more.
- Me: Listen, actions speak louder than words. It's an old tradition to stand up there and say a lot of pretty words to make people feel good. Not watching it doesn't mean I don't care.
