The adventures of me, her, my boy and our dog as we navigate life in a crazy world. We love the outdoors, sports, reading, playing, and of course, the Virginia Tech Hokies and the William & Mary Tribe.

Also, I founded the GoFightWinVT Tumblr, so if you're a Hokie, give it a follow. And, feel free to check out my Project 365 Tumblr.

Who I Follow

businessbullpen:

We have a great partner in the DC area, Dogtail Solutions. Matt Dillard, the firm’s founder, and I have agreed to a race to 100 facebook fans. Both firms had exactly 50 fans yesterday afternoon when we decided to do the race. When either Business Bullpen or Dogtail Solutions reaches 100 fans, both firms will donate $50 to charity. The winning firm will select of one of their 100 fans at random to select the charity.

As some of you know, Facebook launched vanity URLs for profiles and pages not too long ago. For example, my profile is facebook.com/TheWick. However, small businesses like ours were left out because we have yet to reach 100 fans. That’s right. Every page needs 100 fans in order to set up a vanity URL. Even though this hurts the “little guy”, it is a necessary requirement so Facebook vanity URLs are not claimed by squatters or imposters.

I can understand one’s reluctance to “fan” a firm like ours. You don’t want to be bombarded with trivial updates about what I am eating for breakfast or when I am walking my dog, or even the latest client we have signed. By the way, I really despise the whole “fan” terminology. I wish Facebook would change that. I used to think the term “follow” was creepy, but now it’s accepted thanks to the rise of twitter. But, I digress. Our goal is to provide our fans, followers, subscribers, clients, and friends with valuable information about web-based topics that could impact your work and way of life. I can’t promise that every update will impact you directly, but over time, I do believe you will benefit from becoming a fan. I am lucky to work with such a wonderful team, who are experts in what they do. Graham, Matt, and Gary will be contributing their time and expertise with our fans to help them be more efficient on the web.

Matt is a great guy and Dogtail is a firm I highly recommend for your networking and infrastructure needs, but we need to kick their butts here! Help us do that by becoming a fan today. Go to http://www.facebook.com/pages/Charlottesville-VA/Business-Bullpen/7115781773 (what an ugly URL) or click on the “Become a Fan” button on the right to become a fan and then tell your friends who you think will find value from our services to do the same!
