Do you still use instant messaging?
Who still uses this? How do you use it? I’m on AIM, Yahoo, Google Talk and Skype. I have these open pretty much every day, but have found I rarely use them. Do you? Yahoo & AIM: garyjamescope Skype & GTalk: gary.cope Feel free to hit me up. Though, I should warn you, I never set my status to “away” when I’m away.

NBC News, owned by parent company GE, fails to... →
A spokeswoman tells the Washington Post that it was “a straightforward editorial decision” (LOL!!!), but surely Brian Williams thinks this story would fall under his “Fleecing Of America” series, right?  Right?

Things that get better with age
Wine Cheese Fart Jokes This, I learned at my morning meeting.

twohippiechic asked: (This was too long to put in the reply of your state employee post and I'm feeling all rant-y, so I'm posting it here)

I am also a state employee (in another state) and they (ahem, Republican representatives, ahem) refuse to give us 1% raises. I make $150 too much PER YEAR to be on food stamps. FOOD STAMPS. I'm a VT grad, and I'm about to receive a Masters...

No money for state employee raises, unless, of...
You’re an AVP and then the state finds the money to give you a $56,000 raise, or, about $6,000 more than the mean salary of all state employees. And that’s fair how? Bottom line, the rich keep getting richer. At least Frank Beamer refuses pay raises until his assistant coaches get them. What if all managers worked that way?

The corporate tax rates are too high? Really?
GE made a profit of $14.2 billion last year. GE is at a tax rate of 35 percent. GE paid ZERO federal taxes last year. GE instead received $3.2 billion in tax break. GE cut its U.S. workforce by a fifth, while adding jobs overseas. And it’s the public employee unions that are killing the economy. Right. (Source: ABC.com)

Tumblr Japan donation function still not working...
I see this… then I click on “Donate $10” and get this… I’ve done this at least 10 times and my balance is still $24 and I don’t get a Japanese flag on my Tumblr icon. I know I’m not alone, either. I’ve seen comments on the Tumblr staff blog signaling that others are having similar issues. I submitted a support email to the Tumblr staff and did...

“Good morning Mr. Copeland!”
–  Coworker upon passing me in the hallway. On the one hand, they are very nice and I appreciate the genuine effort to be pleasant in an office environment that features a bevy of curmudgeons that would just as soon punch you than make eye contact and say hello. On the other hand, my name is not...

Here's the cold, hard truth
To borrow a code tag from @world-shaker: <soapbox> If a republican were in the White House right now, the republicans in congress would be applauding the decision to join U.N. forces in Libya. Have we forgotten that Regan did the exact same thing in the 80s? Last time I checked, we didn’t have a vested interest in Libya in the 80s either. Also, does anyone else find it hilarious...

I give up, Tumblr.
I’ve been trying for two days to use the “Donate $10” button on the dashboard, and after three browsers on both a Mac and a PC, after cleaning out my cookies, cache files, turning off all the extensions in all three browsers on both a Mac and PC (repeating for dramatic effect), I still cannot get the stupid thing to actually take my money. At least one other person is having...

WatchWatch
After seeing my friend Todd’s post on the independent film The Parking Lot Movie, I added it to my Netflix instant queue. I finally got around to watching it last night and it was incredible. I used to live and work in Charlottesville. In fact, I lived a couple of blocks from this parking and parked there from time to time. If you’ve ever heard of the stereotypical UVA student being...

Did you see the end of the Butler vs. Pitt game?
Holy crap. Two huge bone-headed plays by both teams in the final 2.2 seconds was something I’ve never witnessed in college basketball. Butler scores with 2.2 seconds left to take a one-point lead and then Pitt inbounds the ball, rushes to mid-court where a Butler player (Shelvin Mack) inexplicably FOULS the Pitt player with 1.4 seconds left, sending him to the free throw line with a chance...

…that icky taste in your mouth when you wake up is way worse than morning breath. I won’t even talk about how ridiculous my hair looks. All that being said, the nap was totally worth it.
