Anti Social Media Behavior
cwimedia:
I’ve gone dark. I’m off the grid. I’ve become a ghost. Well, sort of. I am speaking, of course, about social media and the ever-increasing privacy concerns that come with posting information about your life online.
It started some time ago with Facebook and MySpace. My profiles were at one time public and anyone could see them. After getting a ridiculous number of unsolicited “friend”...

What do you think? I’m thinking it’s a bigger version of the iPod Touch. But, I like the 3G option! If I had an extra $639 laying around, I’d get the 16GB version with the 3G.

AEP rate increases total 60 percent from 2007 to...
Raise your hand if you think AEP are a bunch of thieves? [Hand raised]
“Still, rate increases alone, when comparing December 2007 with December 2009, have boosted by more than 60 percent the monthly bill of an average residential customer who consumes 1,000 kilowatt hours a month.”

1. Someone who has an iPhone and a Laptop (Apple or PC) that uses the computer for work and is not an Apple Fanboy?
Nope, don’t see this person dropping wads of cash on something that doesn’t replace what they currently use to surf the web or read the newspaper. This is the category I fall into.
2. Someone who has an iPhone, but doesn’t work on the computer all day?
Maybe,...

What we've got here, is a failure to communicate
Hmm. I guess my colleagues are off at the communicators meeting. Funny, aren’t I a communicator? I keep communicating to be added to the communicators e-mail list so that I know when the communicator meetings are, but apparently there’s a break down in communication. Odd, considering we’re all a bunch of communicators. I hope they’re having fun at the communicators meeting...

Bittersweet Moment in Being a Parent
With Ginger’s help and patience, Nicholas can now dress and undress himself. One the one hand, it’s a huge help in the morning and evenings (especially the mornings), but it also means my little man is growing up. He’s becoming more self-sufficient and relies on dad less. I know he’s still only four (almost five), but sometimes I wish he could be this age forever. I know...

Who are my Tumblr peeps and why do I follow them?
I don’t follow very many people on Tumblr, so when I decide to follow someone, it is because I find their posts entertaining, informative and pertaining to things of interest to me. I looked at the list of Tumblr peeps I follow and realized that I don’t know half of them in real life. I just saw a post that someone else reblogged, checked out their site and figured “what the...

Facebook Wall Exchange
Me (via Facebook status update): Ginger, Nic and I are making healthy homemade pizzas tonight. Yum!
Facebook Friend: you used healthy and pizza in the same sentence?
Me: I know! I can hardly believe it myself. Next thing you know, some suits in D.C. will create a "government accountability" office. Ha! Like that could ever happen.

Weighed in this morning...
I’m down to 219 pounds! Three years ago I was pushing 250. My goal is to get down to 190 before my wedding in December. Ginger is down more than five pounds. We haven’t really hit the full-stride of an exercise routine, but we’re easing into one. For the time being, it’s eating out less, no soda, portion control and an insane amount of will power.

WordPress.com vs. WordPress.org →
My friend and colleague at Business Bullpen wrote a great article about Wordpress.com vs. Wordpress.org.
businessbullpen:
The great people at Gibson Design Management of Charlottesville asked me to write a post about deciding whether you should use WordPress.com or a self-hosted WordPress instance for your website or blog.

CHRISTIANSBURG — Gary Cope is a satisfied customer. So is Councilman Henry Showalter.
Both use the services of Valley Curbside Recycling and both talked about how much they appreciate the business during Tuesday’s Christiansburg Town Council meeting.
Cope called the company, which started last February, a “godsend for the area,” while Showalter added, “It’s a...

If you post to Craigslist...
Do NOT include anything in the picture that you do not wish to sell. Also, if you’re not willing to negotiate, then say that you are not willing to negotiate.
I am selling my like-new couch (below). It is a leather/suede couch with a queen-sized pull-out bed that I bought when I suddenly found myself a bachelor two years ago. It’s a sleeper sofa and I put it up for sale on...

Fear of the poor is hampering Haiti rescue
toddwickersty:
adamisacson:
[T]he Haitian people seem to scare aid workers more than Somali warlords, Darfuri Janjawid or Afghan Taleban. Frightened Dutch aid workers abandoned a mission without reaching the collapsed building where people were trapped, and frightened doctors have left their patients unattended.
The experience of CNN’s medical reporter, Dr Sanjay Gupta, is telling. In a...

Got some luv for TBR from the Tumblr Staff today!
staff:
This ever happen to you? I dreamt in Tumblr last night.
I walked around the city, covered in little hearts and reblog buttons. I showed my appreciation for a beautiful sunset by reaching out and poking its like button. I saw some delicious tacos, hit reblog, and had some of my very own. This was a world I could live in.

Getting Healthy
A healthy and delicious recipe to help you keep your New Year’s resolutions!
gingerandgary:
So Gary and I are trying to shed some pounds and get in better shape for our upcoming nuptials. I’ve joined Weight Watchers again and he’s going online and counting his calories through SparkPeople. We’ve had success with both in the past. I got rid of an extra 15 last year in about 2 months...

My Son, the Techno Wiz Kid
I bought my 4-year-old son the “How The Grinch Stole Christmas” ebook for the iPod Touch. It plays with or without narration and to turn the pages, you swipe the page with your finger. Well, after reading the book several times over the holidays, I thought it best to break out a good old fashioned book like we usually read. Much to my surprise, when it came time to turn the first page,...
