Instead of Bailing out Failed AIG, Bail out the... →
@SEOSEM (Twitter pal) posted this link today and I couldn’t agree more! It sounds absurd (only because congress would never go for it) but it makes perfect sense. If you want to fix the economy, give the bailout money ($300,000 after taxes to every adult) to the American people and they’ll pay of debt, mortgages, cars, and then put money right back into the economy.

Facebook vs. MySpace: And the winner is...
For a while now, I’ve been trying to maintain both my Facebook and MySpace accounts. But, the time has come to choose a winner and it is Facebook. Sorry, MySpace. It came down to a time-management issue. I just can’t keep up with both of you and despite Facebook’s “new” layout and user interface (which most people seem to hate), I like FB better. It’s not you,...

A Parenting Dilemma
Nic and I went to Chic-Fil-A for lunch on Friday. They have free WiFi, chicken nuggets and an indoor, air-conditioned playground. The weather was “blah” and Nic has been inside for almost two days because of bad weather, so I wanted to let him stretch his legs and get some play time.
Nic was playing and two other kids came in, a brother/sister duo; the brother was probably five and...

My Return to the Field ... Sorta
Today marked the first time in nearly seven years that I was behind a camera shooting a college football game - Virginia Tech vs Furman. I had initially thought I’d be on the field, but as it turns out the endzone cameras aren’t on the field. One is located in the South Endzone (see picture below) and is at the top of the steps and then down at the bottom of the upper deck. That camera...

Getting Geared Up for Tomorrow's Game
Well, after a seven-year hiatus, I will return to the college football field tomorrow … as a camera operator. Yep, that’s right! This one-time sports reporter and anchor will be back behind the camera tomorrow for the Virginia Tech vs. Furman University football game in Blacksburg.
The last weather report I saw calls for a 90 percent chance of rain tomorrow morning and early...

Preparing for the Deluge of Hanna
For those that haven’t heard, I will be working for the Virginia Tech Athletics Departments’ video production team during all Hokie home football games this season. Mostly, I will be operating one of the two endzone cameras for HokieVision (the big video screen in the north endzone). I can’t think of a better way to spend a game - getting paid (and fed) to go.
Of course,...

What a Crap, Crapity, Craptastic Day
Have you ever had one of those days where crap just happens that makes you sick to your stomach? I mean the kind of crap that you’d rather get kicked in the “boys” than have to deal with? Ladies, I’m not sure what a suitable equivalent would be. Yeah, I had one of THOSE crappy days today. I’m not going to go into a lot of detail because frankly, most of you could care...
