Happy Thanksgiving! What I'm Thankful For!
Happy Thanksgiving, everyone! Today, and every day, I’m thankful for so many things because I’ve been very blessed. I’m thankful for my son, Nicholas, who is everything to me! I’m thankful for my mom, dad and brother. I’m thankful for my family for supporting me all these years through the good and bad times. I’m also thankful for my friends and all those people...

Don't Add Me As a Facebook Friend If...
Like most of you, I’m on Facebook (henceforth referred to as FB). And, like most of you, I’ve had blasts from the past as well as complete strangers send me a “Friend Request.” When I first joined FB and would receive such a request, I would just accept it and move on, most of the time never really hearing from the person or developing any type of relationship with them.

I Love My Toyota!
In May 2003, I bought my first new car, a 2003 Toyota Corolla. At the time, it was an economical decision - an affordable car with a history of longevity, low maintenance and good gas mileage. Today, I’m still driving my tan (Toyota calls is Champagne) Corolla around and thusfar it has served me well … 140,000+ miles and counting.
I’m not looking for a new car just yet -...

A Heartwarming Moment on Bitterly Cold Day
The weather wasn’t the greatest as temperatures dipped into the low 20s and what little warmth provided by the sun disappeared behind the gray November clouds. But for a few minutes, we forgot how cold it was when the Hokie Bird came out of nowhere to meet Chase Ringler.
Chase is the 4-year-old son of my high school classmates Whitney and Rich Ringler. Chase was diagnosed with Stage 4...

Holiday Shopping in a Down Economy
These troubled economic times have most everyone pinching pennies and tightening the belts just to make ends meat. But, many of us have children whom we do not want to disappoint, so we are looking for the best deals we can get when shopping for toys to put under the tree.
If you want to save some gas and avoid fighting the crowds, try shopping online! I’ve been doing it for years and it is...

My Top Tep 'Must DVR' TV Shows
Some of these shows have yet to begin their respective seasons, but they are still on the air. I’ve actually broken this list down into two top fives. The first set is my top five shows currently showing new episodes. The second set is my top five shows including those that have yet to begin their seasons such as Lost or 24.
Top Five #1 (currently showing new episodes)

From Cell Phone to iPhone
Today I had a guest blog post published on Handshake 2.0. Below is an brief preview followed by a link to the main article.
Your current two-year cell phone contract is about to expire and you are thinking about dumping your brick-sized flip phone with that one button that works only occasionally. This is your opportunity to get a new cell phone, but like the Sprint CEO says in his commercials,...

How Google Used Twitter to Fix Its Webmaster Tools
Ah, behold the power of Twitter. I’ve preached about the business benefits of using Twitter and shared examples of other Tweeple who have had problems solved when the company with which they were having issues with saw their gripe-filled Tweets and contacted them to fix things. Well, now I am one of those stories.
Last Wednesday, I wrote a blog post called My Beef with Google’s Web...

Hokies Run Wild on Terps, 23-13
From my VTHokieFans.com site:
Blacksburg, VA - Redshirt freshman running back Darren Evans set a new Virginia Tech single game rushing record and led the Hokies to an impressive 23-13 win over the No. 23 ranked Maryland Terrapins Thursday night. Evans piled up 253 yards on 32 carries and scored a touchdown. The 253 yards breaks Mike Imoh’s record of 243 yards set in 2004 against North Carolina.

My Beef with Google’s Webmaster Tools
Note: I originally posted this on my other on-again/off-again SEO blog, SEO-KungFu.com, but figured more people read this blog, so why not re-post?
As a Web designer, Webmaster and inhouse SEO/SEM, I was THRILLED when Google announced that its Webmaster Tools had added a “Linked From” feature. This new feature finally allowed Web site owners to find out which URLs were linking to...

Parenting Observation at the Playground
Nic and I went to a nearby playground today for two hours. We packed some sandwiches, chips and drinks and had a little picnic smack in the middle of our two hour play time. Toward the end of the outing, as we usually do, Nic was on the “big boy” swing and I was pushing him “super high” much to Nic’s giggling delight.
A father came into the playground area with two...
